Index Measuring Land Use Intensity—A Gradient-Based Approach

چکیده

To monitor the changes in landscape, and to relate these ecological processes, we need robust reproducible methods for quantifying landscape patterns. The main aim of this study is present, exemplify discuss a gradient-based index land use intensity. This can easily be calculated from spatial data that are available most areas may therefore have wide applicability. Further, adapted based on official sets thus used directly decision-making at different levels. its basic form consists two parts where first buildings roads second infrastructure cover. We compared with frequently ‘wilderness indices’ Norway called INON Human Footprint Index. Our captures important elements more detailed scales than other indices. A particularly attractive feature it map databases updated regularly. has potential serve as an tool planning well basis monitoring, assessment state integrity accounting strategic environmental assessments.

A GIS-based integrative approach for land use optimization in a semi-arid watershed

The proper use of natural resources can preserve these valuable assets. In line with the management of natural resources, land use optimization can be highly useful. The aim of the present study is to propose an appropriate integrative model for optimized allocation of lands for surface runoff and sediment load minimization and net income maximization in Bayg watershed, Iran. In this study, fiv...

Disclosing arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal biodiversity in soil through a land-use gradient using a pyrosequencing approach.

The biodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) communities present in five Sardinian soils (Italy) subjected to different land-use (tilled vineyard, covered vineyard, pasture, managed meadow and cork-oak formation) was analysed using a pyrosequencing-based approach for the first time. Two regions of the 18S ribosomal RNA gene were considered as molecular target. The pyrosequencing produ...

Population Growth and Land Use Dynamics along Urban–Rural Gradient

In this study we apply a spatial conditional logit model to determine factors influencing land cover change in three contiguous counties in West Georgia between 1992 and 2001 using point (pixel) based observations of land characteristics. We found that accessibility to population and population growth affect not only development of rural lands and transition between agricultural and forestry us...
